New York State Whistleblower Law
You let your employer know that there a situation at work which is a danger to health. For example, you are a construction worker, there is asbestos in the workplace, you voice your concern that the asbestos is affecting people's health and that the employer is doing nothing about it. Or you are a hospital nurse, you voice your concern about medical procedures not done properly, that patient health is being harmed. And after you blow the whistle on the harmful practice, your employer fires you. That is wrong, and it may be illegal. New York State whistleblower law protects employees from retaliation when they complain about employer practices which have a substantial effect on public health.
